The United States imposed income taxes briefly during the Civil War and in the 1890s and the after that on a permanent bases from 1913. Back in the 1760’s the colony’s protested against British taxation. The Boston Tea Party was an act of protest by the American colonists against Great Britain for the Tea Tax Act . Originally tariffs on imported goods were the largest source of income for the Federal government from the 1790’s to World War 1 . When the income tax was reintroduced in 1913 single persons earning $3000 or more were subject to a 1% Federal tax. Couples exceeding $4000 were subject to a 1% Federal tax . Back then I would venture to say that the average working man’s salary was about $ 1100.00 to $1200.00 a year . $3000.00 salary back in 1913 was the equivalent of $67,000 now. The state’s but not the Federal government began collecting sales taxes in the 1930s.
Incomes of $200,000 in the 1930s is the equivalent of $2,500,000 today . For the tax year of 1987, the highest marginal tax rate was 38.5% for individuals. Of course over the years inflation dramatically raised most persons into tax brackets formally reserved for the wealthy. The income tax now applies to almost 2/3 of the population. In the 1930s, the new deal introduced Social Security as a new tax and in the 1960s Medicare was introduced again as a new tax. During the Lyndon B. Johnson administration Social Security was moved from a trust fund to the general fund . Now politicians have access to these extra funds to spend as they see fit. In the early 1900’s we had very few taxes , we kept most of what we earned. But now we are being taxed into oblivion . It is like death by 1000 cuts. A significant portion of the working population ends up paying more than half of their earnings to the parasites running the government. Few politicians know what it means to earn an honest living .
What we are forced to pay is not only Federal Income Tax but …………………..

As it stands now , the working man has to work until April 17 [ almost 4 months ] in order to pay the assorted taxes which
total about 65 % of your earnings. Back in 1900 , Tax Freedom day came on January 22.
Now think about this , our so called All knowing ” Leaders ” are no more intelligent than the lumpen masses , the more they ” earn ” in taxes , the more they spend . If they have an extra Billion dollars lying around , they figure out a way to spend it. They never think about putting money aside for tough times .
Back in the 1960’s University Tuition was about $ 900.00 to $ 1000.00 a year , not counting room and board , etc. It was affordable . Now Universities and Colleges charge students $ 25,000.00 to $ 45,000.00 a year for tuition alone . After 4 to 6 years in college many students have accumulated $ 100,00000 to
$ 150,000.00 in debt at about 6.75 % interest a year . Before even having a job, our young people have become indentured servants to the Banksters . The Banksters Greed knows no bounds, enough is never enough and our elected ” leaders ” in Washington obviously side with the Banksters. This is a national disgrace .
